Now For YOga
Now for Yoga is the ongoing heart work of Cate Geard.
Cate experienced her first Yoga classes at the Relaxation Centre of Queensland in 1996.
After many years of dabbling in different classes, different styles and guided by many teachers, in 2010 Cate began to study the path of Yoga, embarking on the 1.5 year Yoga Teacher Training co-offered by Radiant Light Yoga - Adam and Maaji Bornstein, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, and by Shelly Fruend in Albury, NSW. The learning never ends!
Embracing Yoga tools to relax, strengthen and balance mind, body and spirit, she applies these tools to the journey of everyday living, as a field of Yogic experimentation: Cate has come to realise that daily practising of Yoga creates a balanced effect, and a connection to inner peace, like a cool, wide underground river, flowing below the surface of everything. Yoga serves to remind us of this river of peace, as we can forget or we get self-consumed and things seem hard. Every situation is indeed an opportunity to learn, and to offer compassion and love to the self and to each other.
Cate is grateful to the rural communities of the King and Myrrhee Valleys and Glenrowan, Victoria for supporting her teaching work in its first seven years. She has been teaching at The Breathing Room in Wangaratta since 2019, with an 18-month teaching journey in the Zoom Breathing Room during the Covid pandemic. The great work of Yoga continues, as Cate celebrates 10 years of teaching on the mat in Spring 2022.
A bit about Cate. She loves colour! and Nature! and texture! and our ability as humans to create! and reading! and sewing! and that feeling of being intuitively connected to the whole of oneself! Creative movement is a must, as well as seeing and appreciating Nature beauty, as a pathway to a N O W presence, and to a grateful heart, amidst the busyness of this lived-in world.
Cate is a life student of creativity, expressing through different languages, and a few are: regular art-making, music-making, and the English and French languages. More information about Cate’s art projects and collaborations can be found at www.categeard.com. One such art collaboration includes illustrating a book for a friend in 2021, called The Little Tree.
In January 2023, Cate has her first solo art exhibition since 2007, on at the Bainz Gallery, Wangaratta Library called Bloom.
Recently in a professional development, a wise teacher said that in teaching [languages], we are really ‘awakening curiosity.’ That goes for Yoga, too! May these classes be of benefit to all beings, and to Mother Earth. Cate honours all wise beings from all traditions, past, present and future.
Cate is a registered member of Yoga Australia.
